Hematite and Magnetite iron ore

Hematite and Magnetite

Hematite (Fe2O3) and magnetite (Fe3O4) are the principal iron ore minerals used in global steel production. RMSPL supplies high-grade hematite and magnetite from India's richest iron ore belts for domestic steel plants and international importers.

Domestic and Export: Supplied to Indian integrated steel plants and exported to China, Vietnam, Japan, Indonesia, South Korea, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Germany.

Key Producing States

  • Odisha — Largest reserves (~6,205 MMT), major export hub via Paradip and Dhamra ports
  • Jharkhand — Noamundi, Chiria, and Kiriburu mining clusters
  • Chhattisgarh — Bailadila high-grade hematite deposits
  • Karnataka — Donimalai, Kumaraswamy, and Ramandurg mines
  • Goa — Low-alumina fines for blending and export

Applications

Blast furnace ironmaking, direct reduction (DRI/sponge iron), sinter plant feed, pelletization, and industrial metal production. Magnetite is preferred for pellet feed due to its magnetic properties and fine grinding characteristics.
